BUMP Mural Tour

1:30 pm Sunday May 25th at High Park

BUMP Mural Tour - Explore Calgary’s Beltline neighborhood through public art with this 2-hour walking tour. Hosted by a guide from the BUMP Festival, the tour covers 2.5 km at a moderate pace and will stop at over 20 murals. TheBUMP festival has been commissioning works by local and international artists in Calgary since 2017 with a vision to transform the city “into an expansive, open-air contemporary visual art gallery”. There are 14 spots available.

Getting there: The tour will start at High Park (located on the rooftop of the parkade).

Contemporary Calgary Gallery Tour

1:30 pm Sunday May 25th at 701 - 11th Street SW

Contemporary Calgary - Join us for an exclusive guided tour of Contemporary Calgary, the city’s premier destination for modern and contemporary art! Housed in the former Centennial Planetarium, this architectural gem showcases contemporary art exhibitions that challenge perspectives and ignite conversations. During this visit, attendees will be able to see the exhibitions ofJune Clark: Witness,Miruna Drăgan & Maggie Tiesenhausen: Hummingbird Guided Meditation, andLauren Crazybull: Wish you were here. In addition, attendees may be able to view works for the LOOK25 Gala Exhibition. Prepare to be inspired by immersive installations, multimedia presentations, and diverse artistic expressions in this local contemporary art landmark.

Getting There: Contemporary Calgary is located 1.6 km from The Westin Calgary and is right in front of the Downtown-West Kerby LRT Station. Attendees may walk directly to the destination or take the LRT through the Calgary Downtown Free Fare Zone, where no payment is required to take the LRT from the hotel to the gallery. The gallery is also a short taxi/Uber car ride away from the hotel.

Return: The curator-guided tour is 30 mins. in length, and tickets allow attendees to stay explore the full gallery afterward.

    Calgary Police Service Tour

    2:00 pm Wednesday May 28th at Weston Hotel/CPS HQ

    Calgary Police Service Library and Archives/Museum Tour -

    Please join your CALL colleagues Kimberly Feher and Candace Turner onsite at Police HQ.  It would be a crime to miss!

    The CPS Library supports evidence-based policing by conducting academic research, offering daily current awareness, and maintaining and developing a collection of 5000 books.  They also support a legal team of 10 lawyers and provide information literacy instruction to police recruits.

    The CPS Archives exists to preserve the history and legacy of the Calgary Police Service as an organization.  They fulfill the research needs of both internal and external clients wishing to gather more information on the evolution of policing in Calgary.

    The Youthlink Calgary Interpretive Centre is a cutting-edge police museum unlike any other in North America. At YouthLink, they’re passionate about teaching the community the information needed to protect themselves from crime. They strive to prevent future victimization and criminal behaviours and are proud to be a key pillar in the Calgary Police crime prevention and early intervention strategy.

    Getting there:  2:00 bus pick up at Weston Hotel, Arrival at CPS HQ : 2:30 security check-in (must have government issued ID)

    Return : 4:00 bus leaves for Weston Hotel

    Alberta Courts Tour

    Tour 1: 1:30 pm, Tour 2: 2:00 pm Wednesday May 28th at 601 5 St SW

    Calgary Courts Centre - Join us as we tour the largest court facility in North America, the Calgary Courts Centre! There will be visits to the First Nations and High Court Security court rooms with a final stop at the Law Library. There will be two sessions consisting of a half hour each. Each session can accommodate 10 participants.

    Getting there:  The Calgary Courts Centre is within walking distance of the hotel.
